What do you love most about your business?
There are a few things I love about our business. One of the them being that we are helping people to develop not only job skills, but also life skills. I’m also proud that the business is something that Mum and Dad built from humble beginnings and also of our wonderful team.
What is something you wished you knew starting out?
You don’t have to know everything. It’s ok to make mistakes and learn from them. Sometimes things don’t work out but they lead you down the right path.
What have you found to be the biggest hurdle to female leadership?
Gaining the respect of senior male counterparts.
What do you think are the top 3 habits to successful leadership?
- Take the time to get to know your people.
- Act with kindness and empathy but without expectation.
- Self-care is important – you need to look after yourself to look after others.
What is the best advice you have received in business that has supported your success?
- You can’t underestimate the value of being a part and growing a supportive network.
- Be humble and be kind.
What advice you would give to the next generation of female leaders?
- Back yourself, but understand that it’s ok to make mistakes.
- Develop and nurture your relationships and surround yourself with likeminded people.
- If you have to force things, maybe there’s a different path.
