The ‘roots’ of a small NZ family business

1. Tell us about your family-owned business in 150 words or less.

Our family has two family owned businesses that we are very proud of. Yoga Roots is a very successful home based yoga studio in Torbay that provides small intimate yoga classes. Whether you're starting your yoga journey, pregnant, have a baby or are a mum simply looking to have some "you time", Yoga Roots is our little Sanctuary that is here for you. Our new start up, Sauna Collective is in the birthing phase right and is poised to create a revolution in Auckland beach culture and health scene by providing the creme dela creme of wood fired Saunas from the luxury of your favourite Auckland beach from our first mobile Sauna Station. Visiting beaches from Orewa to Mission Bay, we are coming. What make this so awesome in our opinion is that it creates a brand new way for Aucklanders of all ages, sexes, cultural and economic backgrounds to connect and engage with each other while systemically improving their mental, physical and emotional wellbeing.

2. What does being a family-owned business mean to you?

For us, family-owned business means that the entire family is "all in" on particular vision that ultimately has the mental, physical, emotional and financial wellbeing of the entire family at heart. It is when each member is on a shared journey that helps to develop greater bonds and growth through the highs and often more memorable lows. A family business is a great place to explore and test your grit, your creativity and your perserverance and to work together as a team because life and work are not separate anymore it becomes one single wave that the family rides together.
