Your local Advisor Facilitator will be your main point of contact.

This month's topic: An Overview of Insolvency in Family Businesses

This session will provide an overview of insolvency in family businesses. It will canvass:

  • Key indicators of insolvency
  • Types of insolvency administrations
  • Safe Harbour provisions for company directors
  • Potential personal claims against directors in insolvency
  • Bankruptcy – what forms part of the bankruptcy estate
  • Recognising the warning signs and taking pre-emptive actions

About our Speakers: 

Rebecca Hegarty – Partner, Bartier Perry

Rebecca is a trusted advisor to clients, assisting them with their commercial documents, policies and procedures, contract negotiations, commercial transactions, and advising them on the Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (Cth) (PPSA), shareholder and director matters and insolvency issues. She works with clients across a range of industries and business types. Rebecca’s approach is one that is pragmatic, agile and grounded in obtaining a clear understanding of a client’s needs and objectives. Rebecca is also a NSW Public Notary, Family Business Association Accredited Adviser, Vice President of the Parramatta & District Regional Law Society, Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and sits on the Committee of NSW Regional Women Lawyers.

Nicholas Kallipolitis – Partner, Bartier Perry

An Accredited Specialist in Commercial Litigation, Nicholas has over 17 years of experience in contractual, building and construction (developers, contractors, government and homeowners), banking & finance, intellectual property, professional negligence, personal and corporate insolvency, trade practices and company and corporations law disputes. Nicholas’s objective is to achieve desired outcomes by working with his clients as a team throughout the dispute process. By undertaking the course and becoming a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Nicholas understands what makes a business or organisation tick and their intricacies, and takes the time to understand their respective needs.
