Get an inside look at Retravision, a franchised electrical and appliance store founded in 1961. The Dorsett Group owns four Retravision stores across Western Australia, including the Cannington store, where you will meet 3rd and 4th-generation leaders David and Katie Dorsett-Lynn, hear their story, and learn about the history of both the Dorsett Group and Retravision.
Lorna Dorsett acquired the Dorsett Group and its Retravision stores from her father, Norman, in 2002, and remains an active participant in the business alongside the new generation of leadership. When Lorna took the reins, there was already a long and diverse history behind the Dorsett Group, including multiple motels and taverns operated under the umbrella of Auto Investments, a car dealership business, as well as two funeral directors. While not all of these business ventures were passed down to Lorna, she learned from her father's salesmanship and has remained a guiding force in the running of Retravision.
Retravision prides itself on exceptional service and value. These qualities have endured through the family's successful succession planning from Norman to Lorna and the next generation.
During this special event, you will hear directly from David and Katie as they lead the business into its next chapter. Together, they will discuss the business history, the 3rd generation's involvement, their succession plan, governance structures, and how they have thrived for over 60 years.
What to Expect:
- Facility Tour: See Retravisions Cannington facility and store, including operations and their supply of appliances and electronics.
- Succession: Hear firsthand from David and Katie about their succession story and their successful leadership transition.
- Family history: Gain insights into the history of the Dorsett Group and how it has continued for over 60 years.
- Networking Opportunities: Connect with fellow family business owners and industry peers, sharing experiences and building valuable relationships that can help your business into the future.
Meet Retravision
Retravision is a franchised electrical and appliance store with a passion for providing exceptional service and value to customers across Western Australia. Their team is committed to helping clients through personalised, attentive service that reflects their family values built over generations.
Founded in 1961, Retravision became part of the Dorsett family legacy when Norman Dorsett added four stores across Western Australia to his already diverse portfolio, which included multiple motels and taverns operated under the umbrella of Auto Investments, a car dealership, as well as two funeral directors. In 2002, Norman's daughter Lorna acquired the Dorsett Group and its Retravision stores after Norman's passing at 99 years of age. Lorna saw an opportunity to focus on building the Retravision franchise while maintaining the exceptional service standards her father had established.
Today, the Dorsett Group operates Retravision with third and fourth-generation leaders David and Katie Dorsett-Lynn driving the business forward. They focus on maintaining the core values of exceptional service and value while adapting to the evolving retail landscape and customer needs.
Over 60 years, the Dorsett Group has experienced successful generational transitions, with Lorna remaining an active participant in the business alongside leaders David and Katie.
