This month's topic: Investment Market Update and Managing Volatility

Markets have whipsawed through the first half of 2025 — reacting to shifting economic data, policy uncertainty, and global developments. As we look ahead, what might investors expect in the months to come?

Join ANZ’s Chief Investment Officer, Lakshman Anantakrishnan for a timely discussion on the trends driving volatility, where opportunities may emerge, and how ANZ is positioning portfolios amid continued uncertainty.

3 key takeaways from attending this event:

  • What have been the key drivers of markets over the first part of the year
  • What the outlook is for the remainder of 2025
  • How ANZ is managing risk and looking to take advantage of opportunity throughout the volatility

About our speaker: Lakshman Anantakrishnan, Chief Investment Officer, ANZ Private

Lakshman is ANZ Private’s Chief Investment Officer (CIO). Lakshman is responsible for the portfolio management, construction, and asset allocation of ANZ Private’s +$11 billion in Funds under Advice.

Lakshman has more than 20 years of experience spanning the asset management and private wealth industry. Lakshman joined ANZ after serving as CIO at AMP Ltd, where he focused on advising Superannuation Trustees on performance improvement and the restructuring of AMP’s investments business. Prior to this, Lakshman was Head of Portfolio Management at Credit Suisse, spending close to a decade managing global multi-asset portfolios across various risk profiles. During this time, he designed and managed bespoke mandates, ranging from $50 million to $750 million, on behalf of some of Australia’s largest family offices and philanthropic foundations. He has considerable experience in institutional investing, having managed funds for Principal Global Investors and BT Investment Management (now Pendal).

Lakshman is a CFA Charterholder and holds a Master of Commerce, Finance from the University of New South Wales.
