As a member of a family business with a material impact on the direction and strategy of the business, it is important you know your role and meet your legal responsibilities, as you may be as liable as any director on the board. 

This workshop aims to enable small and family business owners to grasp fundamental knowledge and capability in areas relating to legal aspects of participation in a family business, critical to carrying out their roles and obligations as office holders and business owners. 

Specific Objectives

This workshop will enable participants to:  

  • Understand what how the legal framework intercepts with governance. 

  • Why owning and running a family business are distinct and attract different legal responsibilities. 

  • Why every family member in and out of the business needs to understand the impact of legal responsibilities and governance. 

  • An introduction to the key areas of personal and commercial risks in a legal context. 

  • Be able to identify gaps in their current legal governance knowledge to assess further skills and steps needed to be taken to ensure compliance and understanding of obligations

Kasia Maczuga | ADLV Law
