Topic: Succession and independent trustees

This topic will involve a discussion on legal and succession planning issues around the appointment and/or replacement of professional trustees.

Speaker: Israel Vaealiki, Partner, Jackson Russell

Israel is a partner in the Private Client and Trusts team at Jackson Russell and is head of trusts and succession planning. He specialises in family succession planning and wealth preservation and has close to 20 years’ experience in this niche area.

Israel advises on trusts, wills, estates, international and cross-border succession planning, trust and estate administration, matrimonial/relationship property agreements and philanthropy. He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and the International Bar Association.

He helps clients to preserve family assets and keep them in safe custody. He also helps clients to create robust succession plans using family trusts, charitable trusts, wills, enduring/ powers of attorney, memoranda of wishes, family charters, matrimonial/relationship property agreements and other legal instruments.

Israel provides practical advice to families, business owners, entrepreneurs, investors, professionals, directors and senior executives, professional trustees, philanthropists, charities and other persons requiring quality advice on trust, estate and succession planning issues. He helps clients to manage risks associated with the long term management and custodianship of assets, economic downturns and financial crisis, relationship break-down, family disputes, retirement, loss of mental capacity, death, the provision of inheritances and charitable giving.
