In 2001 Colin Mills walked out on his multinational corporate career in search of the entrepreneurial dream. In that moment, he took his first step towards setting up The CFO Centre.
Colin spent years in a procession of different CFO roles, often waking up in identikit conference hotels uncertain of which city he was in. He was working so hard to support his family – and yet he hardly ever got to see them.
It finally came to a head one day when his youngest son played in his soccer school cup final. They won 2-0. Joseph scored both goals. And where was Colin? Overseas, at another one of those ‘important’ corporate meetings that his boss needed him to attend.
That was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Colin knew he’d had enough – it was time for a change.
Colin pioneered the concept of the Part Time CFO and over the last 23 years the CFO Centre Group has become the largest and most respected provider of part-time Chief Financial Officers, globally, and we are hugely proud of the culture we have built since.
