Join us for our next New Zealand Advisor Connect Meeting by registering below.
This is an opportunity for advisors and other professionals across multiple disciplines to learn from each other, understand each other’s expertise and build a network that is required as trusted advisors to the unique Family Business sector.
Topic: Family councils, businesses, trusts and the role of the independent professional corporate trustee.
This session will focus on how a properly managed corporate trustee can provide enhanced protection, decision-making with a proper purpose, avoid breaching self-benefit clauses, simplify transfer of assets, continuity, and risk mitigation —especially in complex family or business arrangements.
We will also discuss recent cases, potential challenges of trustee decisions under the Trusts Act 2019, the legal and practical implications advisors need to consider before appointing a professional corporate trustee or setting up a special purpose corporate trustee.
