This is an opportunity for advisors and other professionals across multiple disciplines to learn from each other, understand each other’s expertise and build a network that is required as trusted advisors to the unique Family Business sector.

Your local Advisor Facilitator will be your main point of contact.

Note: This event is for Advisors only.

This month's topic: Navigating family succession and migration overseas in context of family enterprises

This session will focus on the legal and tax implications advisors need to consider when family members relocate to different countries. When dealing with succession planning, advisors need to ensure that the transition of ownership and management of the family business is seamless, regardless of where family members reside.

This session will centre around a case study to highlight and discuss issues a family could face. We will also discuss the multi-disciplinary approach required when assembling a team of expert advisors to ensure the family and/or individuals receive comprehensive advice. How do we as advisors ensure that the individuals and family can effectively manage their personal and business interests while complying with relevant laws? We will discuss how family member(s) move might affect the ownership and management of the family business. From the perspective of the individuals, this will involve assisting with pre-migration planning and succession including their residency requirements (visas and tax residence), cross border reporting, foreign tax and legal obligations etc.

Key takeaways:

  • Main issues that could impact on the management and control of the family business.
  • Importance of a multi-disciplinary approach among local and foreign advisors.
  • Importance of co-ordinating the annual local and cross-border reporting and compliance.
