This month's topic: ATO Hotspot Issues for Family & Private Groups

The ATO recently released its priority focus areas for private wealth in 2025, which include reviewing the affairs of wealthy family groups who are engaged in planning, structuring, and exit / disposal activities in the market. Effectively acknowledging the imminent and well documented intergenerational wealth transfer, a key aspect of the ATO’s focus is on succession planning activity, as well as close scrutiny of family trust distributions.

We will cover the areas of the ATO’s scrutiny this year, which family businesses and their advisors will need to be aware of, along with other select tax considerations for private & family groups.  In addition, the session will guide you through important employment risk areas to be aware of, including payday super, wage theft and obligations on Directors in these areas.
