History: Argon was started in 2006 which doesn't feel like long ago but we're getting close to that 20 year mark, which is crazy. We’re a specialist web design and development studio blending smart creativity with technical precision.
Family Story: Mum had run her own business which I had observed while growing up and later worked in after it was sold. This gave insight into what's possible and inspiration to start something from scratch. Initially we hired friends and anyone that seemed nice that appeared at the right time and it wasn't until around eight years ago that the first family member joined the team. Today we have four family members in the business and everyone else is considered close family friends.
What sets us apart: As a values-led family business, we believe in doing the right thing, building trust, credibility, and a competitive edge for our clients. We've built over 1300 websites for customers around the globe, and are one of the few QMS ISO 9001:2015 certified providers in our space. We take great pride in our long-standing team who are all based here in Adelaide and excel at providing big brand thinking to SMEs to strengthen their brand through good design and a website that communicates what they do quickly and clearly.
What has been your greatest success?
Our greatest success has to be our unique recipe of great people, solid processes, fair pricing and relaxed but professional attitude.
Why did you join FBA?
We joined FBA after hearing a glowing recommendation. The term 'Family Business' is something you hear and I guess we've always considered ourselves as one, but didn't realise that there's a whole tribe that can help with the challenges and planning that's crucial to maintaining a healthy Family Business. We are young in our journey with FBA but at the moment the thing most valued are the insights and anecdotes that you pick up in conversation at the events and workshops.
What advice would you give to other family businesses?
I don't feel qualified to give advice to other family businesses other than to explore what it really means to be a family business and there is no better way to do that than to engage with FBA!
