As trading volumes ramp up in the lead up to the end of the year, so too do scam risks – and family businesses are not immune. Cyberattacks have become an increasingly thorny problem for Australian family owned businesses, and if you do fall prey to a cyberattack, the costs can escalate. What’s more, depending on the type of attack, your business’ reputation may also take a hit.

Meet Our Member: Scenic World

Scenic World is an iconic Australian tourist attraction in the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains near Sydney, which welcomes over 1 million visitors a year. Previously the site of a coal mine, Scenic World was established in 1945 by local entrepreneur, Harry Hammon, and for three generations, Scenic World has remained owned and operated by the Hammon family. We spoke with Anthea Hammon, one of five siblings and the current Managing Director of the Hammons Holdings Group, to learn more about the family business, their growth, and her insights for other family businesses.

Does your SMSF Deed need to be updated?

The trust deed for a Self-Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) is vitally important as it contains the rules for the operation and management of the fund. Despite its importance, SMSF deeds are often not reviewed regularly. If a deed is not reviewed or updated regularly, it may not comply with changes in legislation.
