We had a chat with Uroxsys Limited, new FBA members in the chemical manufacture and polymer development industry, to learn more about their family business.
What makes your family business unique?
The family business is actually a partnership between two families, starting in 1988 between two friends. Our key point of difference to others within our industry is that we typically formulate and manufacture our own resins which are then turned into the final product, whereas the general approach within our industry is to buy these in and blend into finished products. This gives us the ability to have a high degree of control over the final properties of the products we develop.
Why did you join FBA?
We are new members. Our main interest is in networking and comparing notes with other similar sized companies re: expansion strategies.
What piece of advice would you offer another family business?
Have a long-term strategy rather than a sole focus on annual profits – this can be a key point of difference between a publicly and privately owned business. Treat your staff well, not only does this create a more enjoyable work environment but avoiding staff churn also benefits the company.
