Tell us about your business?
Founders Bob Youngman and Tim Richardson first met as colleagues at a Wellington-based importer and distributor of machinery. In 1981, they pooled their resources to start their own business. Today, their legacy thrives with second, third, and fourth-generation family members working in various parts of the business.
What has been your greatest success?
Our greatest success has been the expansion of our operations beyond our original Auckland and Christchurch branches. Over the past six years, we have opened additional branches in Wellington, a second location in Auckland, and most recently, in the Waikato.
What do you value about FBA?
FBA fosters a community of family-run businesses that provides a supportive network filled with invaluable advice and shared experiences. This sense of community is something we greatly value.
What advice do you have for other family businesses?
While it is crucial to operate a smooth and profitable business, it is equally important to uphold family values within your team and to support your staff well. Balancing business efficiency with a strong, supportive family ethos is key to long-term success.
