Tell us about your business?

Writing Your Life began with a simple but powerful question: What happens to a lifetime of memories if they’re never written down? I founded the business to help individuals and family businesses preserve the stories that define them – before they fade or are lost.

My own family history, with its blend of migration, resilience, and reinvention, made me acutely aware of how much meaning is carried in stories we rarely get the chance to share properly. That awareness became a calling.

Today, I work with founders, entrepreneurs, and families across Australia to capture their journeys in beautiful, professionally written legacy books – whether it's a personal memoir, a multi-generational business history, or a keepsake for future generations. What sets Writing Your Life apart is the depth of care I bring to the process. These aren't just timelines – they're emotionally intelligent, deeply researched, and crafted with the voice and spirit of the storyteller.

What has been your greatest success?

The moments that stay with me are not always the high-profile projects, though I’ve had the honour of writing for remarkable families and businesses. It's the gratitude of a client with dementia whose family received his finished biography just in time. Or the adult children who finally understood the “why” behind their parents’ sacrifices and decisions after reading their story.

Success, for me, is measured by the emotional impact it has. It's hearing that a book I wrote became a bridge between generations. That it helped someone feel seen. That it brought a family closer together. In a world moving so fast, helping people pause and preserve what matters – that’s the legacy I’m proudest of.

What do you value about FBA?

I joined FBA because I believe that family businesses are the heartbeat of our economy and the soul of our communities. The values, long-term vision, and personal investment that come with family ownership are unique and closely aligned with the kind of work I do.

FBA provides a space for meaningful connection, where family business leaders can share wisdom, face challenges together, and learn from each other. For me, it’s also about shared language. When I sit down with a family to write their story, I need to understand the dynamics, the pride, and sometimes the pain that comes with legacy. FBA helps me stay attuned to what matters most to family business leaders today.

What advice would you give to other family businesses?

Don’t wait too long to document your story. It’s easy to get caught up in day-to-day operations, but the real value of your business isn’t just on the balance sheet – it’s in the why behind what you do, and in the relationships that shaped the journey.

Capture those stories while the voices are still with you. Doing so not only honours the past but also helps future generations understand their place in the business, the family, and the world.

Your legacy isn’t just something you leave behind – it’s something you live into, every day. Invest in telling it well.
